Neighbours Helping Neighbours: Supporting Families Through The Den Life Changes

A research brief to investigate ‘High Contact Families’ presented a unique opportunity to look a little differently at circumstances that affect local families. The ‘Den Life Changes’ was developed as a live research project, moving away from surveys and focus groups, towards directly supporting neighbourhoods to help neighbours more effectively.

Their weekly youth club work was supported to develop into a thriving family support initiative, led by a widening group of local people in the heart of their community. Operating most days from a ‘neighbourhood house’ the group now work in partnership with a wide range of family focused agencies to support vulnerable families and young people to develop life skills for independent living. The project has gone on to receive recognition from ‘The Centre for Social Justice’ as an example of good practice.
